Word Finder
The Word Finder searches our list of 268,000 English words for you. Give it a pattern, the letters you have, or both, and it shows every word that fits, grouped by length, with the everyday words in bold.
How to search
- Pattern: type the letters you know and a ? for each unknown one. C?T finds CAT, COT and CUT; ?A?E? finds five-letter words with A second and E fourth.
- Use * for any number of letters: *ING finds words ending in ING, UN* words starting with UN, *QU* words with QU anywhere.
- Letters you have: add your tiles to see only the words you can actually spell. A ? stands for a blank tile.
- Must contain: letters that have to be in the word, for example the yellow letters in Wordle.
What people use it for
- Crosswords: you know some letters of the answer and the length. Put the gaps in as ? and scan the list.
- Wordle: put green letters in their places, add yellow letters under Must contain, and pick a word that tests new letters.
- Scrabble and Words With Friends: enter your rack and a letter from the board. For racks and scores, the Scrabble Word Finder sorts words by points.
